Multi-cultural, modern, long-term care

Raising the Roof

Villa Marconi will be hosting its 13th annual Raising the Roof Corporate Gala on Tuesday, October 24th at the Marconi Centre with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception commencing at 6 pm followed by a gourmet Italian meal at 7 pm.

Raising the Roof is a celebration of professional, community, and personal excellence that recognizes outstanding leaders who have achieved excellence within their respective fields and community endeavours. This year we are proud to be honouring Dr. Joseph Mamazza, a catalyst and crusader in the revolution of Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) in Canada.

Today, surgeries in Canadian hospitals reflect Dr. Mamazza’s foresight in championing MIS – a daunting journey that began with great resistance in the early 90’s when MIS was new and challenged by the status quo. His perseverance has, and continues to benefit patients through increased safety, decreased scarring, faster recovery times and decreased length of hospital stays.

Dr. Joseph Mamazza’s distinguished career is reflected in his long list of academic and administrative appointments. He spent 10 years at McGill University Developing Minimally Invasive Surgery, 9 years at the University of Toronto, St Michael’s Hospital as Director of Minimal Access Therapeutics and currently, he is an Associate Professor, General Surgery, University of Ottawa. He became Chairman, Division of General Surgery, University of Ottawa; Chief, Division of General Surgery, The Ottawa Hospital in 2005, for 9 years; and now continues on as the Co-Director of Bariatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program.

Villa Marconi is a charitable, 128 bed long-term care facility that provides exceptional care for its residents in a multi-cultural and modern facility.  It also houses a vibrant Marconi Centre that offers innovative and comprehensive programming and services that enhance the quality of life for our community’s seniors.

As a corporate leader we invite you to take part in this year’s event. There are three levels of table sponsorships, Platinum - $10,000, Gold - $5,000, and Silver - $2,500 with each accommodating ten guests.  Individual seats may also be purchased at $250 each.  An official tax receipt will be issued, less the proportional cost of the dinner.
